Al Ghurair business group has launched the Al Ghurair Collection, a new ultra-prime residential portfolio under Al Ghurair Development, debuting with Wedyan, a waterfront residence on Dubai Canal designed by renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma in his first UAE project.
Wedyan reflects Al Ghurair’s six-decade legacy in design and innovation. Inspired by the movement of water and sand, the building’s layered façade captures Dubai’s natural rhythm. “Al Ghurair Collection marks a new chapter for us and for Dubai,” said Sultan Al Ghurair, CEO of Al Ghurair Development. “We created it to develop buildings that don’t exist elsewhere. Our collaboration with Kengo Kuma reflects a shared pursuit of originality and attention to detail,” he said while announcing the project.
Kuma San, celebrated for cultural works such as the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo and the China Academy of Art’s Folk Art Museum, is recognised globally for an approach that harmonises architecture with nature. At Wedyan, he has applied this approach by shaping a façade inspired by the movement of water and sand. Its layered profile and textured exterior, echoes the rhythm of the desert and valleys, creating a building without precedent in the city.

Kengo Kuma said “Wedyan is a dialogue between Japanese aesthetics and the context of Dubai. Our design philosophy is to connect and create a conversation between architecture, nature and people. In this project, our purpose is to bring softness to the design and to create quietness through shadows that cascade and reflect across the façade, terraces and amenity spaces.”
The 46-storey Wedyan will feature 149 residences, including two penthouses and a three-storey sky villa. Homes offer multifunctional terraces, dual kitchens, and optional Japanese teahouse-inspired pavilions. Landscaping by Gustafson Porter + Bowman integrates greenery and water features across multiple levels, creating gardens in the sky.
Residents will have access to 65,000 sq ft of amenities, including wellness areas, a Pilates studio, a podcast room, and private treatment spaces. The development also includes filtered air and water systems and a temperature-controlled car stacker.
Wedyan’s launch follows a surge in Dubai’s luxury real estate market, which recorded AED 431 billion in transactions in the first half of 2025, up 25 per cent year-on-year. Located near Business Bay and Downtown, and 20 minutes from Dubai International Airport, Wedyan adds a new landmark to Dubai’s waterfront skyline.
