“It’s calm, balanced and peaceful”

My mother and I had been searching everywhere when we first discussed moving to Dubai, says Asil Moin. Warsan 4, International City wasn’t a well-known neighbourhood at the time, but the quiet streets and the fact that it was only 25 minutes from my workplace made us say “this is the one.” Our two-bedroom apartment, complete with a pool, gym, and shaded parking, felt like the perfect fit for our small family, he adds.

Warsan encourages me to slow down. Not being stuck in Sharjah-Dubai traffic has given me back hours of my day. I can finally make it to the gym after work — a simple change that has made a big difference to both my physical and mental wellbeing.

Affordability was definitely a factor. The rent is higher than Sharjah’s, but moving was about more than cost. The daily commute had become exhausting and affected my quality of life. Living in Dubai, even slightly farther from the city’s busiest districts, has brought a balance and comfort that makes the move worthwhile.

Of course, no place is perfect. If I could change one thing, it would be the lack of greenery. More parks and community spaces would make a real difference — families with children, couples walking their dogs, everyone would benefit. But with how fast this area is developing, I’m hopeful that will come soon.

When I picture my ideal neighbourhood, it’s calm, balanced, and peaceful — a place that feels like a pause from the chaos of everyday life. Warsan is exactly that. It’s a quiet pocket of Dubai that still keeps me close to friends and family in Sharjah, yet gives me space to breathe.

For anyone looking to move to Dubai, I’d say: explore the lesser-known communities. You might just find your own hidden gem, the way I found mine in Warsan. – As told to Hiba Fatma
