The National Youth Orchestra Dubai (NYO Dubai) has made history by performing at New York’s Carnegie Hall, becoming the first Emirati orchestra to take the stage at one of the world’s most renowned classical music venues.
Supported by the Dubai Cultural Grant under the emirate’s Quality of Life Strategy, the performance represents a milestone in Dubai’s cultural development and reflects the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority’s ongoing efforts to empower local creative talent and position the city as a global hub for the arts.
During their visit, orchestra members participated in workshops and masterclasses at leading institutions including the Juilliard School and Steinway & Sons Hall. The programme also featured sessions led by Maestra Helen Cha-Pyo, Artistic Director of the Wharton Institute for the Performing Arts.
Members of NYO Dubai described the experience as a defining moment in their musical journeys, expressing pride in representing the UAE on an international stage. They said the opportunity reinforced their commitment to music as a bridge between cultures and a tool for global understanding.-WAM
