Les Marionnettes, Dubai’s first puppet theatre, is redefining children’s entertainment in the UAE by introducing the timeless art of puppetry through the beloved French character Guignol. Opened in November 2024, the theatre offers a creative cultural experience designed entirely for young audiences.
Created by French-Lebanese founder Gabriella Skaf, Les Marionnettes was conceived as a space where storytelling, imagination, and interaction come together. With a tailor-made stage, child-friendly seating, and multilingual shows in English, French, and Arabic, the venue delivers an intimate and engaging live experience rarely seen in Dubai’s entertainment scene.
“Les Marionnettes was born from the idea of creating a place where children could discover the magic of theatre and culture in a format designed just for them,” says Skaf. “Every performance encourages imagination, laughter, and participation — a refreshing alternative to digital entertainment.”
The theatre hosts classic tales, original productions, and interactive workshops, introducing children to the world of live performance while fostering creativity and cultural appreciation. It also partners with schools, nurseries, and educational institutions to produce curriculum-inspired stories and field-trip experiences.
After nearly a decade in Dubai’s corporate sector as a banking lawyer, Skaf left her legal career in 2023 to pursue her passion for education and performing arts. Inspired by the joy her own children experienced at puppet shows in Paris, she brought that magic to Dubai, creating a venue that blends learning with laughter in a culturally rich setting.
