The International Code Council (ICC) will participate in Urban October 2025, taking place alongside the Home and Building Expo at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat from October 6–8.

Organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (MoHUP), Oman, the annual event promotes sustainable urban development and addresses the challenges of rapid urbanisation in Oman.

ICC will be represented by Hamid Naderi, Senior Vice President of Product Development, and Mohamed Amer, Managing Director for MENA. Both have worked closely with MoHUP on the development of six customised building codes and capacity-building tools for Oman.

Naderi will join a panel titled From Regulations to Sustainable Urbanism, focusing on how tailored building codes can translate into safer, more resilient and sustainable urban environments across the region. The discussion will also cover modern methods of construction, smart building solutions, and international best practices.

“This panel discussion provides a platform to share global experience, support Oman in implementing its building codes, and collaborate on solutions that enhance safety and sustainability across the region,” said Naderi.

Amer noted that the event will also mark the official inauguration of the Oman Building Code, describing it as a milestone for Oman’s construction sector and an opportunity for industry leaders to exchange knowledge.

ICC has been collaborating with Oman’s housing authorities since 2024, conducting workshops and training sessions to strengthen safety standards and promote sustainable building practices. Its participation in Urban October 2025 underscores continued support for the Sultanate’s urban development agenda.
