Paid parking system activated in Al Ain schools’ zone

A paid parking system around schools in the Falaj Hazza area of Al Ain has been introduced in a move designed to improve traffic flow, enhance student safety, and provide a better experience for parents and teachers.

Regular Mawaqif rates of AED2 per hour will apply in these zones managed by Q Mobility that also operates and develops Darb, Abu Dhabi’s toll system, and Mawaqif, the emirate’s public parking system.

The Schools’ Zone in Al Ain has long struggled with congestion, particularly during peak hours, where random and illegal parking in non-designated areas has reduced visibility and created risks for students. The issue has also caused delays for school buses, making drop-offs and pick-ups increasingly difficult.

To address these challenges, Q Mobility has activated 4,671 parking spaces across key streets within three main sectors of the Falaj Hazza Schools’ Zone. The company said the system reflects its commitment to smart and sustainable mobility solutions, ensuring safer and more organised environments for students and easing traffic for the wider community.

The introduction of the paid parking system is expected to regulate traffic, create safer pathways for students, and ensure smoother operations for school buses. Q Mobility said the new approach not only tackles congestion but also provides parents and teachers with a more efficient and secure daily experience.

Q Mobility, a provider of smart mobility solutions in the UAE, is focused on leveraging technologies such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things to enable more intelligent, efficient, and sustainable cities. The company said initiatives like the Al Ain Schools’ Zone parking upgrade are aligned with Abu Dhabi’s vision of becoming a global smart city and highlight the role of mobility innovation in community well-being.
